As the heading says: is it possible to build a 2-way system with LE14H-3 as the woofer and on top a compression driver?
Thinking of using some active x-over and hawing a x-over frequency of 1-1.2 kHz or higher x-over fr.
I would appreciate suggestions, ideas, links etc if its possible though :)

I don't see why not, the 1400 Array crosses it over to a CD, for example.

Does the LE14 run well up to 1200 Hz?

Yeah, it doesn't cross over that high in the Array, but it also crosses over to a 3" driver. Depending on the horn, you might not need it to go all the way up to 1.2KHz.

Some folks here run 4" compression drivers from 800Hz (maybe even lower) all the way up to the upper edge of hearing. I'd really like to sample something like that.

Slap a 2451 (or 2450SL) on your M2 horns :D

Sound very good to here that it can be done. Thanks all of you :)

My intention is to build, I call it a "Mini-M2" i.e. a smaller version of the original M2 speaker with outer dimension of approx: 44 x 15 x 13 in. I have an ulterior motive for to build that speaker and that is its going to be a test version of the full scale M2 (as a TL or ML TL speaker). If the smaller version is sounds and behave as I hope then I should start building the full scale M2 :p

This is the frequency response fort the LE14H-3:

I'm very happy with LE14H-3 in PS1400 boxes, running two way, and crossed over at 800. It's too bad you don't live closer, or I'd have you over for a listen.

Thanks Don C for your invitation If I had lived closer I should have bring with me a bottle of my own red wine :D
What horn/driver do you use on the top frequencies

OK, like in your avatar?
What would be a good alternative if not choosing the M2 wg? What I want is a horn not wider than what the LE14 are. Its only for to not to exceed the waf factor

The PT-F95HF was used in the Econowaves over a LE14 variant. You're basically shooting for an Econowave-like design.

Rob's Compact Monitor thread (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?36789-Compact-monitor) could be a good choice. The Econowave was a nice project for me also. I plan on getting it back up and running when I get a pair of 2206's one day.

Yea maybe I should. Sebackman stated that the VTX-F12 horn
seems to be an improvement over the older PT-F95HT.
So maybe I should buy two VTX-F12 wg and give it a try........ :p

I have read that tread before and theres a lot of good and useful information in there including plots and measurements :p

I like the two way design that Cooky did a little while back with the verticle horn and truncated cabinet.

Me 2. They are really cool. -And great craftmanship.

Flodstroem, in a capital near you I have a pair with LE1400H (1400Nd cones in LE14H-3 baskets with 2227 magnets) with M2 horns & 476Nd in a 2-way. Pretty close to what you are talking about. Works just fine.

I also have 3 pairs of 2206 & VTX/2450SL's. Also a good combination. I have an extra pair of VTX's you can borrow if you want.

Kind regards

Thanks Rob. Is the VTXs just the bare horns?
I have found them in the US for, I think it was $45 each
But maybe I should borrow a pair from you just for a test? But for the moment there is no time over for that :crying:

I need to build the cabinets before thinking of horn driver etc. #1 will be to buy the MDFs :o:
Iĺl come back to you later ;)
