Seems like it's been used so little, both by JBL and DIY. Is there a particular reason why that is? Same thing goes for the 8" neo variants, 2168, 2169, 2250...

... which is quite uncommon.

Not sure what that means.

Most speakers are 8 Ohm or less. The J suffix designates 16 Ohm speakers.

All those mentioned are excellent units, and was/is used a lot by JBL in Vertec/VTX, STX, VRX, HLA and Cinema systems.

True, but I've never found that to matter much considering their efficiency...but I also prefer active systems where individual driver impedance is moot.

Yes, I am aware. My main question was about the 10" 2251J, and as far as I know it was only used in the HLA4895 and 4348.
I threw the 8 inches in there cuz I don't see many diy builds using those, either.

Does anyone have experience or know of any projects using the 2251J?

I have used the 2251J, 2250H and 2169H in many projects - all in various midrange horns.
They are very good drivers.

The 2250 and the newer replacement 2169 both work exceptionally well with their CMCD phaseplus in midrange horns in the 300-1800 Hz range.
(Also check out the various PT-waveguide horns - ex the PT-K64-MHF).

The 2251J is very good in (a bit larger) midrange horns, and can also be used as an alternative to the 2123.

Maybe its role in another 43xx speaker/monitor and no one has used it instead of..the 2122/2123 in one of those builds: 4343/4345..

Is the 2251 a "slot in" for either of the more well known 10"?? Or is the question: Why would you want to? Availability of the old 10" 'ers come

to that stage where you have no choice..? Firstly, what are its Specifications - besides the 'J' 16 ohm figure? and how does it stack up? Is there

going to be crossover issues?

These are the things I would look into and also to seek the Help of some of the more knowledgeable on this Forum for their input before going one way or another
