There is some info here on 2360 horn based systems and I have read most of it I think. I just wonder if there is any more new or recent experiences in users with these horns to set them up in a home audio room to get the best out of them. They seem to be an impressive horn that may not have been utilized as much...I do know they are big. I even made a mock up of their size to get a true idea. Yeh, they are big, but I like big archtechtural horns!!

What best drivers to use on horn and to support hem in the treble and bass regions? I imagine they need as dynamic and balanced frequencies there too. These 2360 are no shy wall flowers I guess? And crossovers?-has anybody used analogues c/overs sucessfuly with them as passive or active?

thanks, Alan

Hi Alan

2441 and 2445 seem to work well with the 2360.
Any woofer that reaches 600Hz cleanly will do
I suggest a digital crossover to better tailor and correct the sound

Currently running 15" 2226 woofers and soon going to 18" 2240

Keeping them two-ways.

My 2440s have some Radian diaphragms in there. They offer smooth lower midrange, but highs are not as good as the 2441 on top. And we know that the 2360 is not the horn to get if crisp highs are what we're looking for. Therefore I disgarded my suggestion for the 2440. But some say that the 2441 with the OEM alu diaphgram with the diamnond shape surround is quite good on top.

Hi Lee,

I would not suggest to compare 2441-AL(JBL) with 2441-Radian....
... but I am waiting Your bass 2240 (18-inch)

My bad. I didn't read well. Sorry.
Currently restoring one of my motocycles. When it is done, in the Spring, I will concentrate on building the cabinets for the JBL 2240 18" woofers. Woodwork is best done outside under the sun. ;-)

Depends from your poket and system type you want to have (full Passive, or with some Active)

Full passive (Low power tube amp):

dual 15" (like D130) or similar, in a horn loaded cabined (4550...?) maybe better the Altec Version like 815 or the modified version with "Onken load".
2486 in 2360
2420 in a 1" horn
maybe a 2405

If you drive some bi-amping, change the low bass for a 1x18" or dual 15" in reflex o a vintage Onken W...

Ofcourse you have the possibility to use not only JBL driver, but several ALtec, Fostex,Coral, gauss, goto.....can be more than fine as well...
