Hi ,

currently I am using 2x2225J in 4508. I am looking for better Low end extension and weight. Would changing to LE15H does that? I am concerned that it might not improve the bass as the 4508 with its 40 hz tuning may be the limitation.

Thank you,

Block one vent and it will lower the tuning. Or keep both and make them longer. ;-)

BTW even keeping the ducts as they are, switching drivers will get you lower bass.

Why not using 2235 or other home-use woofers?

2225 and 2235 share the same basket. All you have to do is to install a 2235 cone kit in your 2225 baskets. The baskets are very easy to find if you donMt want to alter your good working 2225. ;-)

If you already have the LE15H woofers, then try them on and report ;-)

i have not bought the LE15H yet. If I can find the 2235 cones, I really don't mind swapping out the 2225 cones as I really have no use for them.

I think that original JBL 2235 recones are still available, at a price.

If you don't mind going aftermarket, then McKenzie has some for $86.00usd each. Perhaps worth trying. And reporting.

Swapping to 2235 could be a problem because of the the frequency response. In this case if you need a response higher than 250-300Hz LE15H is a better alternative....... I guess ;)

Isn't the 4430 crossed much higher than 250-300Hz at 1KHz?

I recon thought that if it were the 18" 2245, I wouldn't go that high.

Hi Lee,

im interested to try the plugging one port option. May I know what should I expect to hear? Would it go lower say to 32 hz? Will there be a hump that I should take note off?

Also will the sensitivity or loudness be reduced?

Im crossing them at 800 hz now using the 3133A passive network

thanks,

You need to make a simulation.

hi Lee,

have decided to go the recone route. Managed to source some original JBL C8R2235 kits. Will be checking it out next week to make sure it has the mass ring.

Thanks,

Hi Lee,

have you any experience using a equaliser to augment the Low bass extension?

Thanks
