I'm planning a new subsystem in my hometheather to replace my current 4x4645b/2258.

At the moment I've narrowed it Down to four alternatives.
- 8xAurasound NS18
- 4xJBL 2269H
- 4xRevel 18/JBL 2269h
- 4-6 TC Sounds LMS Ultra

Anyone have experince With them?

Congratulations!!!

Why did you finally choose the 2269h?
Have you compared it to the aurasound NS18 yet ? What are they like?

May I ask where you ordered these 2269h as I am located in europe too...

When can I come to listen to them?

Why would you need to get any closer for that? :D

If there was ever a case for a well constructed box ... this would be it.

Lol... well, if you hear thunder, make sure there is lightning first, or you may
be witnessing your neighbor's sound system :)

Finally someone tries them!
Please keep us posted.
How much do they cost nowadays? I got a quote, $1099 each, on speakerexchange in 2015.

Will these be integrated with your M2's?

How deep is the 2269h (preferably in centimeters)?

I was going to try them With my 4645b cabinets, but they were too deep.

Compared to 2258:

I would have done the same except of the price. I don't think the cabinet alone is worth 3 times the price of 2269h, it really is a lot of Money, excepially With 4 of them :) But I might use the cabinetdimensions of sub18 but do consider a lower tuning than sub 18.

Thanks for the pic.
Can you please measure it for me, how deep it is (approx)?

I agree that the cabinet is not worth the price... But it made more sense to me in the given situation.

I am going to integrate them with the M2's (LCR) and cross over at 80hz. I have not seen any best practices from JBL regarding integration/crossover, but I follow the guidelines of ARCOS and their general configuration of Synthesis theaters. K2 S9900, Everest and all their other speakers are cross at 80hz to the S1S-EX's. I haven't heard that they would change this approach with the M2s.

Which acoustical crossover slope? linkwitz-riley 24dB/oct?

Hi,
Interesting question, highly advertised M2, as STUDIO monitor too, with bass extension....???????? interesting result.

It's alive :)

Slight modification to the 4645b boxes and it slipped in...

First impression is quite good, quite a bit more output in the lower region than 2242/2258 what I was looking for, BUT still not the VLF that I really was hopeing for even though the Box now is tuned to aprox 18hz. I might need bigger cabinets or maybe other woofers with lower FS :)

Maybe electronic compensation? This sub doesn't bother if you have the needed power amp... or add mass to the cone...

Are you kidding? I'd pay the price just for those beefy looking flared ports!

You'll need some electronic boost down there. Had you tune to Fb 28Hz, you would have felt more VLF as tuning a cabinet too low reduces the bottom end of the response. perhaps you can do a simulation.

Cabinet is org tuned to 25 hz, now it's 18hz just to test it out. I've also tried boosting up With DSP but it doesn't give the result I was hopeing for.

What I compare too is my previous TC Sounds LMS 5400 which gave a lot more VLF than this do at the moment.

Simulations shows that it should work quite well but not 100% satsified right now.

What do you think of putting 2269 in a tapped horn?? I've no experince With this kind of Box but it might be fun... someone know how to simulate TH?

Does the sub18 come with specific DSP settings?
That would be a good start, after replicating the tuning and volume.

The TC woofer has fs20Hz, not the same beast. I suggest you need to spend more time tuning your 2269. Try reinforcing the 25Hz to 50Hz range with a manly 12db to 15db boost. BTW your 4645b cabinet has 8,8cft volume which is not bad. I think the 2269 begs for eq processing to sound good down below.

Still wondering why you picked the JBL over the Aura?

The JBL doesn´t please you, was the Aura even worse in the VLF ?

The JBL doesn't please me?? That's not at all accurate.... I'm talking about almost the ultimate subwoofer here, so I think it's fair to have high expectations :) 2269h is by far the best subwoofer I've had in my HT....

To get the same amount of output I would need aprox twice as many Aurasound, so the total cost is the main reason, it would get alot more expensive. I've had Aurasound and they are superb and maybe better than 2269h in the VLF but otherwise I think 2269h is equal good or better and have a lot more efficent and have greater Power handling. TC Sounds LMS Ultra is the beast in VLF but not quite compareable in sq or anything else imho.

How do you define VLF ?
If used with music which does sound "better" to your ears?
Is there any benefit of the Aurasound above 30hz ?
