Greetings from India.

I know the answer to this is already in here somewhere - but I have been looking for a while, and not found it.

What are the compression driver options for the M2 horn, other than the D2? Obviously I'm looking for something cheaper than the D2, but I'd probably be willing to go as high as the $745 it takes to own a BMS 4595nd - not much more.

I would be looking to crossover around 800 Hz, and generate the 117 dB continuous, as the M2 does.

Thanks in advance,

Don C

I'm happy with these (http://reconingspeakers.com/product/jbl-352328-001x-compression-driver-2452h/) 2452s. I did swap the diaphragms for the aquaplas coated versions.

According to measurements and opinions here, the 2435HPL looks like a very good alternative on the M2 horn.
I have yet to try mine on that horn, but I certainly have great expectations...

Thank you. Do you mean this (http://www.simplyspeakers.com/jbl-replacement-speaker-diaphragm-d8r2452-sl.html)?

Thank you. I will do some more research. I suppose I'll have to score a used pair and have the diaphragms replaced?

Wow! The beryllium replacement diaphragm is $645 (http://reconingspeakers.com/product/jbl-2435hpl-d8r2435-beryllium-diaphragm/)!! and the used 2435HPLs are going at ~$475 (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X2435HPL.T RS0&_nkw=2435HPL&_sacat=0) each... Would this be the way to do it? It'd end up costing ~$1500/CD+waveguide! I'd have to start thinking of SEOS again :(

At that price you should not need to have diaphragms replaced :dont-know:
Maybe have the gap cleaned and ferrofluid replaced, but that should be all you need.

Or check the price of the D2 again.

The SEOS will still need a driver.

I have built some large 2 way speakers with compression drivers... Two pairs with DE250s, one pair with the D220i, one pair with PSD2002 and one pair with Eminence PSD 2013s. I think I can work with any of these with the SEOS 15s. And I'd be done with my horn/CD combo at well under $ 500 per side.
