View Full Version : 1567a / 1569a use for phono system with VOTT A7's?

Hi, I have a pair of VOTT A7 (16 ohm woofer & compression driver) that I would like to drive with some altec amps.

Ive been looking at the 1567a amps & have the opportunity to buy a pair of these with optional phono transformers..

I also have the opportunity to buy a pair of 1569a power amps.

I was hoping someone could explain how the 1567a pair would work to drive my speakers:
1. powerful enough?
2. how does the phono stage connect to a pair, considering a turntable just has rca right & left (and earth) outputs?
3. any mods needed to be done to an original pair?

Also would it be better to have a pair of 1567a, outputting to the 1569a pair for extra power?
Or one 1567a feeding 2 x 1569a (that would be mono, or could you do left & right sends from the 1567?)

Anyone can explain the wiring setup & what might be the best option for a classic all altec type setup?

thanks
