Hi Guys,

Hope everyone here is well,

First of all I would like to say thank you to all the community members and Administrators for providing the world with such a wealth of information on JBL loudspeakers.
I have been on the site before browsing and love it. I have now decided to join your community and contribute and learn what i can as I am also a JBL enthusiast as well as a loudspeaker builder hobbyist for many years and find this hobby an amazing way to learn the varied and unique blend of art and technology.
So, finally after many years of collecting vintage JBL parts for a project I have ended up with a few nice pieces and as the my days of DJ 'ing and sound mixing are now over, the bug for a nice set of vintage hifi JBL's has now bit.
I decided to use a clean pair of 2225's pickup up on ebay and a set of JBL 2380 flares also found on ebay with some 2445 compression drivers.

Looking good so far, I´m keen to see you making progress! :)

What´s the internal volume of your enclosure? To which freq. is it tuned?
Have you decided what crossover freq. you will choose between the woofer and horn?

Hi Guys and thanks for the kind words.
Box Volume is 5 cu ft. and tuning will be around 38Hz. According to the simulations this should provide usable bass down to around 34hz in room (-6db). I will not push tuning lower as this will increase excursion, so I am opting to tune the box so that the 2225 is operating in its efficiency range without stress. Now the 2445 I intend to cross over around 800Hz as its starts to roll off around 8k so i think this is its sweet spot however the measurements will tell the truth. I do believe it can extend higher with some eq in the crossover however i am looking to operate all the drivers in their comfort range to minimise distortion as this is a hifi application and not designing for SPL. above 8k i am going with a 2405 which i think will be a nice match for a solid 3 way..

Hi guys , been working on these boxes for quite a few months and now I have completed the crossovers. I am happy with the results but will be adding a super tweeter soon. I had removed the 2405 after careful listening confirmed this tweeter does not seem to suit the dispersion characteristics of the 2380 so I am considering a 2404.. although they do sound quite acceptable without the tweeter and just a little high shelving using a processor. Still tweaking however. I will keep in touch with some measurements. Crossover is at 800hz.

Nice Work, I like the look of the two separate grills.
