Altec 846 B Valencia - general question

I am new here.
I'm looking at a pair of Altec 846 B Valencia speakers tomorrow. Just wondering, with the possible variants of drivers in this model, are all the drivers and woofers alnico magnets throughout the 846 range?

Hi Steve,

Outside of my own under-construction Altec speakers using A7 components, I really cannot count myself as any kind of Altec expert. Nonetheless, using the several sites that I've depended upon to educated myself about Altec components, I spent almost an hour searching sites and trying to determine some sort of Valencia timeline and component usage. No beans! The best I managed to find were an assortment of Altec product sheets from various years, but none of them were dated, nor did they give any specifics on the particular components used outside of the generic "416; 846; 811," etc., etc..

This site has at least three extremely knowledgeable Altec men who could very likely answer your question, but apparently they haven't seen it yet. Give it a little more time and they will surely chime in.

In the meantime, I would post your question on the Altec User's Board.

Here is a chart published in 1975 showing different components available in the Valencia cabinet. I have heard of the Valencia being loaded with the 602D and 605 Duplex.
Not sure if that is legit.

You'll find what you need on pages 5 & 6. I don't thing the component compliment changed much from the Valencia's date of introduction.
