Wow. THAT sound. Probably 60% or better of what I listen to is from the last twenty years, but that sound appears in none of it. Without casting cultural aspersions, in my universe that sound is exclusive to the vapid, air weight pop field of singer and dance driven productions. The first time I heard it I thought it sucked pond scum, but now I realize that I was insulting pond scum and I apologize to pond scum everywhere.

I place its first cousin, over souling, in a similar strata. My reactions are different, though. The Whoop makes me reach for the mute control. Over souling makes me reach for a barf pail.

You're lucky! I barf at both of them before I can get to the mute button! :barf:

Just a lot of over sampling of the same musical trends to keep the young ones happy. Same happened with bass and guitar riffs in RnR.

It seems rather odd that none of the musical "experts" here have never heard a minor third interval before. It is used in most forms of music and has been for quite a bit longer than I can remember.

Allan.

Most minor third progressions are not tied with a pop vocal slur and regressive repeat. Even non regressive chromatic instrumental slurs are not heard often. That's why the clarinet example that begins Rhapsody In Blue is so recognizable.

It just doesn't end in Pop Music.

Kudos to the person able to stomach any of this while editing these short videos for us.
