Anybody knows if the 2453h would accept truextent diaphragms?

Would appear not:

Áh, so apperantly the diaphragm is soldered to the back cap. Makes things a bit more complicated....

Have you or anyone else pulled the diaphragm on a factory JBL 2453H-SL to see if it is ribbed or smooth?

I looked at the site grumpy linked in his post above, and they list a "Genuine JBL 2453H-SL diaphragm" that includes a picture of the underside showing it is smooth.
Ribbed or smooth is easy to see, but aquaplas would be on the side facing the cap it is glued into.

Has anyone verified aquaplas coating on the -SL diaphragm?

I suppose F.R. sweep and distortion measurements would tell the story.

I don't have any of these, but would consider them if I know what diaphragms they are equipped with.

user notnyt at AVSForum has measurements of the 2453H-SL and compared to other JBL CD's: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/1925586-just-purchased-pair-jbl-4722n-speakers-136.html#post42167329

If you scroll up a bit from that post, you will see the 2453H-SL measures. I have a pair of these in JBL 4722's with the 2384 waveguide. They measure smoother and have significantly less distortion than the stock 2432H CD's - I measured both. Sound excellent to my ears, no harshness at all and great value - these typically go for $250 a piece in the US. Not upgradeable to Be. I have not taken mine apart, but there maybe a pic or two of that, or you can ask, on the AVSForum...
