I love the way my McIntosh 2105 sounded. I dont know much about adcom but it sounded better than any sansui amp i heard. Remember these series of amps (2105,2100,2505,250) were designed when they were still desiging tube amps (1968ish) so they will have that sorta sound. Get it if the price is right, you can always play with it for a while and sell it later if needed.

Thanks,
Scott

It has been a really long time since I have listed to the Sansui but I remember it having quite the punch. The 5800 is the newest of the bunch but I would probably give a small edge to the 2105 unless you prefer the newer fets in the Adcom. With that said the Mc2205 will be far and beyond the 2105 or 5800 but with a much bigger price tag.

thanks, I end up getting the MC2105 for a good deal! and it came with the C32 preamp and MR80 FM... I could tell a big difference...from adcom going to mac... mid and highs are a lot cleaner and detailed

The other thing I like about McIntosh gear is it seems to have a huge following and makes resale easy if need be.

I also think that it's the coolest looking gear, even though we don't technically listen with our eyes :D

Yep. The beltline is under construction these days, around the Home Depot exit (151/Verona Rd).

I live NW of Madison about 20 minutes from downtown out in the sticks.

Wisconsin is nice, I love it. Badger game tomorrow, Packers next week. Smell of fall in the air. This really is the best time of year.

The 2105 definitely has a soft "tube like" sound because of the transformers (or whatever McIntosh calls them). I prefer heavy power amps that can deliver some real current when called for to receivers and integrated amps.

You made the right choice IMO. Adcom is nice but the Mcs are much much nicer. Will you be using this with your 4343s (or are you planning on bi-amp them?), if so you'll need to stock up on beverages cause that's going to sound fantastic. That C32 looks real nice too, you're in for some good times and that's probably an understatement.

Enjoy!:)

yeah i love it, i think if anything, the pre amp is very nice...when i hook up my GFA 5800 to C32 mac, it sounds good!!
but the C32 and the MC2105 is better...theres that 3D sound.... its like different sounds are coming from both channels...
but when i use the adcom, its basically the same sounds coming from both channels...im not making sense...im a little intoxicated my bad

Nice to read positive reviews of the MC2105. A friend just gave me one, along with a C27 preamp. Cannot wait to get them in my system.

I miss San Diego, 18 yrs ago it was my first duty station, unfortunately I have since been stuck being assigned to stations in DC, Rhode Island and Phnom Penh.

Good to hear!

I lived near Miramar, right across the street from the big Mormon temple. I miss the sound of jet noise, will never miss the sound of helicopters.
