I nearly crashed my bike yesterday when I saw this at the side of the road in a "Free" pile. Thankfully one of my kids was home and brought the car to pick it up.

It sounds great. All the drivers seem very lightly used. I've never heard the 2405 before. Incredible. My plan is to sell the K130 and N2400 and buy a second 2405 to replace my 075's in my living room rig. From what I can tell the 2405 and 075 use the same physical mount.

How important is it that I match this Alnico 2405 with another Alnico 2405? Flux is flux, right? Would there be a difference with a ferrite 2405?

Sounds great. No issues at all.

Just one cabinet though. Maybe I should have knocked on the door and asked if they have more!

Maybe it was in such sad shape they were ashamed to put it on the curb!

As to the AlNiCo vs Ferrite, I use both, but try to keep them in pairs. The AlNiCo magnets ended up in a very small box with 2225's in a vain effort to save weight. Hmm, maybe I should put the 2205A's in there so that all three drivers are AlNiCo. (The mid is a 2461/2307.)

Maybe post a WTB in the marketplace.

Nice literal pickup! Looks like the cabinet could be repurposed for a small sub or center channel.

I'm still in shock this was sitting by the side of the road.

I might actually re-purpose the cabinet to hold my growing collection of vinyl...g

Great Scroe ! Use it for HT center speaker? It should punch you right in the face dynamically.

Question: Hey, please you guys chime in on this, I'm rather curious. That's a 2405 crossed over at 2400 Hz, 12 db/octave?

How does that work? Seems to fly in the face of all technicality. But I don't doubt that it somehow does function OK.

I replaced the LE20's in a pair of 4310's with 2405's, adding a -6db fixed resistive pad after the hi freq. lpad, and that worked quite well. But the xover freq. was higher than 2400.

Regards all, -de-

I just looked up the N2400 network spec and, oddly, it crosses over at 2500 Hz, not 2400 Hz. In any case, the spec on the 2405 is usable beginning at 7 kHz so that is kind of dumb to expect the 2405 to deliver much between 2.5k and 7k. This was clearly a DIY cab. Well made but not a great audio design. It's parts now :-)
