Just scored some mint original cones D 140 f JBL's i bought these with the intentions of reselling them. Right now my currant speakers use Altec 416-8b so how do the JBL compare to them?? I wont have time to compare the two until Sunday so i just thought i would ask.

I don't know about the D140's but I know that the 416-8b's are pretty killer, I had a pair in my Model 19 clones and they sounded darn good. Wish I still had those speakers. :(

In the absence of any ( newly acquired ) TS parameters for the D140F, I feel it's best to use the specs belonging to the 2205a ( the Pro successor to the D140F ) .

One can then start to draw their own conclusions ( between using the 416-8b or the D140f ).

Note the use of a triple corrugated surround.

This is a higher compliance ( style of surround ) that JBL Pro eventually returned to ( after using the Double-"M-Roll" for a few decades ) .
