All-
This is my first post as a new member, but I am a long time JBL fan.
I recently secured a pair of L300s from a relative, and they suffered from 20 years af neglect, plus
a rather tortuous UPS ride from Santa Cruz to Scottsdale. At any rate, both grille frames are mangled,
both woofers needed surrounds (done!, thanks to kits from Simply Speakers), one mid has a punctured diaphragm dust
cover (Thin cloth, is this serious, is it worth replacing?). Both cabinets need repairs (this is not a problem).
My biggest concern is securing a few small parts: I am missing the JBL badges that are attached to the grille cloth, and, most importantly,
One of the plastic horn diffraction lens (model L91 is broken beyond all hope of repair. Is there any hope of securing these parts?
thnaks, Scott

Welcome to the forum. If the only damage to the midrange driver is the bug screen you are OK. You should be able to find an L91 or 2308 on eBay. Kenrick Sound also reproduces these. The badges are also regularly available.

There are quite a few threads that discuss the glass, flocked paper, grilles etc.

JBL badges come up quite often on ebay, or you could post a WTB in the LH marketplace. Same for the 2308/L91 plastic slant acoustic lenses, but buy from Kenrick if you want pristine new reproductions.

Are you doing the refoams or is someone doing them for you? Practically any part is still available for a price.

Fixing the grille frames or building new ones that match the old ones will be the toughest challenge. Even new grille cloth is available.

I just finished re-edging the woofers, and took your advice. I found the lens and badges on eBay.
I keep you posted on the progress. Plan on driving these with a pair of home brew 4x6550 ultra-linear
mono-blocks I built about 20 years ago. Can't wait- I have wanted a pair of L300s since I was a teenager!

Nice ,congrats , I recently got a pair to. I was surprised how well they respond to a low wattage el84 amp.

If the only damage to the mid-range driver is the bug screen (I love that! :applaud:)you are OK. :)
