View Full Version : N1200 crossover capacitor number decoding

I was able to melt the wax out of a N1200 crossover can and read the markings on the 3 capacitors. Any help with translating the markings below to microfarad values would be greatly appreciated. They are all marked Chicago Condenser Corp.

1st cap: 135366 and 10358
2nd cap 135266 and 10359
3rd cap 135266 and 10434

I have the schematic but can't follow it which is why I took the pains to expose the caps hoping I could read the uF values off them as most at printed on them, but not these.
Are there any JBL vintage fans that can help?

This version of the N1200 (from Giskard) (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=32542&d=1210872360) shows the correlation of part number<>uF value .

These vintage crossovers were a challenge because the 'can' behind the binding post plate was filled with wax. I had to melt the wax out of one of two I had in order to read the part numbers of the capacitors. Once I did that Giskard helped me cross-reference the part numbers with the cap's spec'd MFD values.
In an effort to preserve original voicing of the speakers I purchased 100V npe capacitors. In a two cases I had to parallel two NPE's to get the 13.5 uF and 16.5 uF values.
