Recently I sold my JBL LE15As on eBay. I bought them new way back in about 1965. They are serial numbers 5761 and 6140 and are labeled 16 ohms. I had them re-coned by the JBL factory in 1987. And they were re-surrounded by a JBL authorized repair facility just before I sold them last month.

After receiving them the buyer measured the DCRs and came up with values of 8.2 and 8.7 ohms and now thinks I misrepresented them since they have been re-coned with 8 ohm cones. I told the buyer I believe they were not re-coned with an 8 ohm kit. I told the buyer that my research shows that the normal and proper DCR range of a LE15A labeled 16 ohms should be 7.6 to 9.2 ohms with the genuine JBL C16R2215 16 ohm re-cone kit. Clearly these fall within that range. And it is inconceivable to me that the JBL factory in 1987 would use something other than the genuine kit. (A JBL authorized repair center maybe).

Anyway I’m just looking for vindication that I did not deceive the buyer. Thanks.

The DCR ( range ) for the 2215B kit ( used in the le15a ) was speced as 8.1R to 9.5R ( according to the 1978, JBL "Transducers Test Specifications" sheet / published by JBL's Quality Assurance Department ) .

The figures are ancient ( ie; back then the speaker still came with a LansAloy surround ) and were no doubt subject to some revision with the move to foam surrounds .

Your buyer is under-educated on these matters ( while you should have included 2 pictures of a DMM showing the DCR of your two woofers ( in this eBay sale! Thank you Earl. I appreciate your response and feel mostly vindicated, but you're right I should have done the two pictures of the DCRs. Thanks again.
