Hi all,
does anybody know if the 2242H has its own chassis? Or is there any possibility to recone an other speaker to a 2242H?

RalfThe 2242 has a deeper magnet structure than all the other JBL 18,s! So its a different chassis, I dont know if you can put a different cone in it, or a 2242 cone in a 2241 frame!

I kind of think not, but Im sure someone has the definitive answer!

That I already imagined. I think straight about the ultimative studio system. I would build gladly some double 18s with 2242H. Me becomes amusing if I think of the price of a 2242H. Are meanwhile defective chassis on the market?
I like my four 2245. But the cabinets for a 2242 has smaller extents permit with same frequency response...
Did someone already think about a project with double 2242s? Perhaps even four of it? 12" or 15" for the mids with horn and super tweeter? Project name could be 4349? What do you think about? http://audioheritage.csdco.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/banghead.gif

Guido called me crazy. But I think, it could be a nice project....

Well Ralf,
you are not crazy!

Lets go for it. I think it is more interesting than my M9500 Project so I'll skip it. My signature is already changed :D
We need to discuss the Low Mid thing. I do not think that the 2234 is optimal.
One 2242 up to 100Hz
The other up to 300-400Hz
Maybe one 2012H from 400 Hz to max 1k. I do not like the rising response of this beast. Maybe the 2123H is better?
Now the problems start as I don't think the 2426 can keep up from 1 k on. IMO it is to weak. This could be the chance for the 2430 with the 1,5" PAudio 2344 clone.
On Top? Of course the 2405.
Designing the xover will last AGES but I only agree with 1 active xover between the 2242 and the rest.

Lets see what the forum members think.

Hi Giskard,

what is the difference between a 2242 and a 2243? Do you have more informations?

I recall he posted the T/S params for the 2243 in a recent thread:
