JBL SVA1800 refoam

So I got a set of Rick Cobb refoam kits a couple of months ago and finally got a weekend to sit down to get 'er done. I have done many woofer/mid refoams over the years but this set fit like they were only made for these woofers.

Pic of the first pair, cleaned off of the old foam. I did not realize how bad they actually were. Was clay-like in consistency. Actually I cleaned the frames up even more with nail polish and cotton balls then this cell phone pic shows. :)

One thing that I had to improvise on and that is the frame size actually prevented me from using my tried and true clamping method, cloth pins. I cut some cheesy rca cables and used them to clamp down onto the frame. Worked really well. Seems JBL used some sort of press to "stamp" the originals onto the frames. My method was way less hi-tech. :)

Here is a pair with their requisite clothes pins. :) 30 Hz signal in conjuction with gravity worked like a champ.

Here we are all done. I usually wait for 24 hrs to install and then I will let 'er rip. :applaud:

when I had to refoam the LE14-H1's in the 250Ti's, ordered from RC , fit perfectly. :)

Those sure look like the ones Mat Electronics sells for $2.50, $1.85 if you buy ten. That's what I used to refoam my 1800's (which I absolutely LOVE BTW). The SVA-2100/1800 are real sleepers IMO.
