This is a question from annother thread that I moved here because it was a little OT in the other thread.

Robert - what are you using the 2332/2451 combo in? Is it for home, studio, or pro sound reinforcement use? What other components, and crossover info? Do you like the way it sounds? I've really considered a similar combination, (but using the 2430 instead of 2451 - $$$). It looks like the 2332 is cast, (aluminum?). And it also looks like you have a thin strip of velcro along the bottom - purpose?

John

John, I use them for HT. It's an all active digital system with a Meridian 561 feeding three Behringer DCX2496 digital XO's. XO at 80Hz for the subs, 1kHz for the 2451/2332 and 10kHz for the 025Ti in the fronts. I'm using a computer based MLS system for measuring and a Bruel&Kjaer Type 0 microphone for control. The response is flat (+/- 1 db) from 140Hz to 22kHz. Pretty decent.

The subs are SUB1500, the bass/mids are ÖhmanW85, the mids are 2451/2332 (the 2332 is cast in alu.) in the front and center and 2426/OASR in the rears. In the front system I have added a pair of 025Ti since my measurements show a steep roll off from 16k. The roll off proved difficult to cure through the XO's so I added two tweeters.

Two fronts like this

It LOOKS decent! Wow!

What Amps do you use? Alesis?

How do they perform?

Hi Guido

The sound is very neutral as can be expected with a flat curve. I do find the 2451/2332 combination being very revealing and detailed. Among the best I have heard to date.

The tweeter makes a big difference. It’s a bit funny because the measurements is not that different when comparing only driver with driver/tweeter below 18k. But the combinations do sound very different. The three-way setup is much more pleasing to listen to. The music is more present in the room. -Don’t really understand why. The measures rather similar and the XO is above 10k when using three-way setup.

The amps are 3 pcs. Alesis Studio RA300 (6*150W) for the mids and highs, a Crown CTS8200 (8*200W) for the bass/mids and a Urei 6290 (2*600W) for the subs. Maybe a little overkill when run in an all active system but works just fine. The Alesis amps are under rated from what I can. They are not very powerful but sound clean and crisp. The are also pretty descent when comes to high frequency linearity.

Watching U571 is rather refreshing when they detonate the under water bombs

Best regards
