Can anyone tell me if the "43" in the 43XX line of studio monitors has any significance?

Thanks,
Scott

Well, it's one more than The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything. :D

Just a distinction in product lines, if I recall correctly.

43 is the "end of an era" number
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?37395-End-of-an-Era- (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?37395-End-of-an-Era-)43-years-with-JBL-is-Over (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?37395-End-of-an-Era-43-years-with-JBL-is-Over)

The 4310 was the first in the series, some... 43 years ago (http://lansingheritage.org/html/jbl/specs/pro-speakers/1972-4310.htm), and now the 4367 shall be the last in the series.

A beatiful thought.
Until the 43-series portable usb-speaker and headphone are released....

Its comes right between 42 and 44.

One could ask the same question about the 44 series.

With the 44 series it's easier - successor of the 43 series. ;)
Still, I think it's a good question why they are called 43's...doesn't seem to have anything to do with 3-4 way models as the 43 series also had 2 way ones like the 4310.

If 44 came after 43, did 43 come after 42? That's pretty much the way we name product lines where I work except we use letters. Some designs never see the light of day so there are holes in the product line. After we released Widget A into production and learned a few things, we tested B, C & D versions. D was best so we have been making Widget D for 30 years. Widget E never made it, Widget F was a big hit but got sold to a French company (really) and was replaced by Widget G. We bought a line of Widgets from another company we call Widget P and my latest Widget design is called "SFG". That is the only one where the letters actually mean something and it's not So F'ing Good!
