This looks pretty cool. Nice to see what he is using for playback.

For 10 to 20 grand I'll stick to my thorens. Plus if your table is setup right there's no wear on the record. And if you keep them clean too.

This company has been building these for a while now I believe. I remember reading about them years ago. I think.

Cool but out of my league.

Someone did this before , Nakamichi perhaps.

Nakamichi never made a laser turntable (I worked there from '81-'93). The company that did make one around that time was called Finial. But they could never make it commercially viable.

The Nakamichi turntables that came out in the 1980s (the TX-1000 and the DRAGON TT) had mechanisms that measured and corrected for record spindle hole eccentricities, so they rotated the record around the actual center of its groove, rather than around the center of the hole that was punched in the plastic disc, reducing wow. It worked quite well (and the DRAGON TT sounded great), but marketing innovative new vinyl record players against the onslaught of the CD in the mid 1980s was a losing proposition even for a company with as 'golden' a reputation for innovation as Nakamichi.
