Hi,

I just recently bought a pair of JBL LE85 plus H91 horns.

The serial number is 2898 (the second one is quite the same)

Does someone knows how to determinate the date of manufacturing (Year ?, perhaps more)....

Many thanks
I hope someone can help me.

Andre

As I am new here.... Just a small introduction...
I'am on high efficiency speakers since more 25 years, I mainly use a system with Altec 515-8C (GPA) woofers and Tad Td2001 drivers (plus 4 cells horn). They are amplified using 211/VT4C (or RS237, TM100, MC1/60) amplifiers, sources are an Oppo CD/DVD/BR plus home made D/A converter, a Revox B260 tuner... I recently bought a pair of JBL LE85 plus horn to build a second system pair of speakers with Altec 414-8B

It's good to date within your own age bracket.

I can't help you in the dating your drivers. But I have to say, you've got some nice toys there. All jbl drivers are nice but you would have better results with 2440's. The 2 inch drivers are an order of magnitude then the 1 inch drivers. That being said the 1 inch drivers are still pretty good.

But I see your using tad's already. Your in pretty good shape. Did you build your 211 amp yourself?

It can use 211/VT4C or German Telefunken RS237 (very close), I have a 4V filament power to use Dutch (Philips) MC1/60 or French (Mazda) TM100. As the first stage is independent, I have 3 versions, one using the C3g tube (triode mounted) you can see on the first message, one with the EML30a and one with the 10Y (6SL7 input).... byeAndré
