Can't find this info anywhere? Building a B460 clone and I would like to know the thickest gauge cable that will fit in the 2245 spring terminals.

Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been covered before.

I've found 12 gauge seems to be the biggest wire size that fits into the spring connectors. And its a tight fit at that.

FWIW, for the short run from driver to back plate terminal posts, it won't make any difference what size you use.

To a point. But its not a sound engineering practice.

NickYes, but I don't think he was suggesting 24 gauge wire. ;)

What was in the original B460?

Personally, I'd back off one size from the "max fit" so the sliding hole connection has some bite on the wire.

You can use as thick a wire as you want as long as you cut parts of the strand to accommodate the terminal.

Personally I've often thought of replacing the standard spring connectors with binding posts. The springs in the jacks tend to loose there strength with age. I've ran across some that aren't in to good a shape.

yes, I've had to do that. The standard speaker connections on 250ti's won't take large gauge wire (14/16 max ?)

I've cut strands ..didn't like iit
gone to bananas ... didn't fit tight
and ended up with solid angled connectors , they seemed to work out OKAY
(just don't get the Monster. where you just cram the wire into connector)

That would be a great idea!

Ordered some 13AWG cable for the time being. Will post pics of the B460 clone once it is up and going. I plan to have multiple presets in my DSP so I can use it with JBL's I rotate (L212, L200 3-ways with 2235, 4315B's). Might even give the L20T3's a strap with it.
