Hi All,
Those two JBL 15" drivers use differential drive and Neodym magnet circuit.
The 2265 challenge was to equal the 2226 (low distorsion in particular), together with a lower weight.
This technology (Differential drive) is described at the link below, with some measurements on 2265H, and 12" & 18" drivers:
http://www.jblpro.com/ProductAttachments/technote_v1_n33.pdf (http://www.jblpro.com/ProductAttachments/technote_v1_n33.pdf)
The 2216Nd is used on the well-known M2 model.
It seems it exhibits lower efficiency and more extended bass/sub response than the 2226. Is the 2216Nd a kind of updated 2235?
I would be interested by T/S, frequency response and distorsion measurements for this 2216ND.
Thanks in advance

Here it is: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?33565-2216Nd
(EDIT: Flaesh is Flash !)
The 1400Pro looks very similar in terms of frequency response, efficiency, and even distortion: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?11349-1400Pro

seems to me that 2216Nd can be a good mid-bass driver

OK. Sorry not to have seen the thread before.
Concerning the measurements, it is probably done on standard sealed enclosure? so in vented box it should be improved (more bass level and lower distorsion).
Thanks to its T/S parameter (relatively large mobile mass, low FS and high Qt) it's indeed a good choice for a 30Hz low range extension with correct efficiency-> good HiFi bass
Did someone made measurements on this 2216Nd in a ported box?
Thanks
Bruno
