Hmmm, considering forking out approx $300 for the pair as a gamble on the parts. Do you think it's a good gamble? Can be 2226, can be 2035, aftermarket recone kit etc. I bet the compression driver is original though, maybe that and the horn lense combo alone could be worth it?

The boxes are not JBL but I would take the $300 gamble for the parts alone, even if there all blown.
Some years ago there was a list posted of JBL baskets and what they
could be re-coned as.

I don't think a 2226 can be re-coned to a 2035.
