JBL 2231H Drivers needed

I need 4 of them ... (for a set of 4350B's)

the fool that had the OEM's "lost them"

Please let me know.. .. or if you know what might possibly be a close replacement

Definitely sorry for your losses. if you can't find some 2231H drivers, I suspect the closest replacement could be the 2235H. They could be good temporary replacements until you find original 2231H drivers.

At Fs 27Hz it is a looooong way from the 2231's Fs 16Hz :eek: while the 2235 is Fs 20Hz. Also, the 2231 has a Vas of 736 litres while the 2235 is 450. Which makes me think that the 2235 will go deeper if the cabinet was designed for a 2231...

You are right about mentioned 2231/2235, but as I know, any of them can not be possible to get as new, so a kind of re-foam, You have to measure after re-foaming, if Vas over 250 Lit, You would be happy..., especially for 2231, as there is almost "no space" for the foam role suspension. For 2235 a little easier, but to reach 450 Lit Vas, almost impossible.
May be C8R2235 recone kit, but its price, if available is equal or higher then the mentioned SM-115/K

But if the funding is not a problem, why not 1500AL,......1501.....I think some of the forum member has done such, improvement.,

I wouldn't even bother looking for 2231H's....just be patient and get 4x 2235H or 4 suitable baskets and put fresh 2235H recones in them.

As a owner of 4350's i believe the 2231 drivers sound superb to me, if you can find them go for it. But if you can't the 2235 is a great replacement.

Although I agree with Joe, that the 2231's have their own worthy qualities, JBL specifies the 2235H as replacement, and in that speaker, the 4350, except for collector authenticity, there is no other reason not to use it. You may lose a (very) few Hertz at the bottom, but the bass will be tighter, more articulate. Find clean frames and have new authentic JBL 2235H cone kits installed; well worth the money, if you can swing it.

The frames with the 2235 foilcal may be difficult to find, but the JBL 2225 frames are exactly the same, and they are plentiful, since, as some of our member sound pros have stated, it has been a staple of sound reenforcement for many years.

update ... I found a set of 2231H in Japan

well nothing is perfect.. but these have been rebuilt by Kenrick ... and we will see... they are now in the garage
