Drivers for my A7 828 cabinets

Hi folks,

I finally got my cabinets!Whopee!!

looking at them I believe they started life as the A7X. They are grey hammertone splatter type finish but they do not have the big black Altec grill with the metal frame. No problem, I will by retros.

So, what do I load them with is the question. A fellow forum member suggested the 515-8G which sounds great but would like to get opinions on what your experiences have been.



Backdrop, I will be using 125 wpc tube mono blocks with active crossover to 25wpc tube amps on top. I want to make the 828 able to switch from biamp to single amp so I will also need a crossover for the 828.

What I have so far: 3-828's; 3-511B's, one with a 902-8B driver; 1-2360A w/2445; 6-tube amps; DBX 223xs crossover; 2- tower subs with 8-18" total which will handle digital duties in movie mode.

I love my movies and my music so the goal is a musical/theater system capable of concert/live music reproduction as well as whatever creation my blu-ray player throws at me :)


For what its worth my screen is 14' wide curved Acoustic transparent scope. Room- 16' x 30' (think IMAX, not THX)

So, looking to make my 828, sing :)
