For the last two weeks I have tried to log on to the Library page, without success.

This is what comes up;

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.lansingheritage.org.

Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

What's going on? All I get is a 404 message.

Working fine on my end. Used it yesterday and today with no problems. :dont-know:

if the link is correct that the OP posted, it's not working for me either.

You don't need to use a link... the Library button at the top of the page doesn't work either. I can not get the Library to load using Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. I haven't tried IE.

Both the imbedded link and the button at top of page are working fine for me on Comcast using Chrome on a MacBook Pro. Just tried Safari, too, and it's working fine.

Folks - look at the website - we are at http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin
it is NOT www.lansingheritage.org -

Yet when I click the library link (button), near the top of the Forum page,
it tries to go to http://www.lansingheritage.org/ and I get 404 - it fails.

If I go to the website home page and come into the site using the black buttons on the left column,
it offers the same bad link for the Library.

We have lost our library!!

:confused:Very interesting... they are not working for me with my MacBook Pro via Comcast in the SF Bay Area. Ditto my iPhone on Comcast or Verizon LTE.

I'm going to speculate that it is an Internet issue... Ms. James, you seem better versed in these matters than I. Any thoughts?

www.lansingheritage.org (http://www.lansingheritage.org)

At the top of the page here where it reads, Forum, What's New, Main Website, Library, Photo Gallery. I click on Library and get the 404 message, whether I'm logged in or not. I go to the Main Website page whether I'm logged in or not, click on Library, and get the 404 message.

I go to the, Welcome to the Lansing Heritage Website page, scroll down to the Library link, and get the 404 message.

I have been visiting this site since 2000, before I was a member, and until recently have never had a problem with the Library page. I can access every other page, but the Library.

Something is amiss!

I have sent an Email to Steve Schell in the hopes he may discover what the problem is.

Sorry, I was outside with the MEK fixing UREI surrounds ...

Anyway, thanks for the confidence - but either someone changed the link in the menu systemS,
or the Library truly was at another domain and somehow the domain has gone away.

Sounds like a good time to call Tech support for the site.

When you put your mouse over the library link at either place, what URL is there?

Is it the http://www.lansingheritage.org/ Link, or something else?

You're right, I can't go all the way in.

If I hit "control" to copy the link at the top here I get this URL: http://www.lansingheritage.org/

If I hit the catalog link it opens the catalog page: http://www.lansingheritage.org/html/jbl/catalogs/jbl-catl.htm

But from there any specific link or links in the Reference, Specs, or Plans section all show:This webpage is not available

Thankfully the Tech Links page in the Forum is still working even with all those changed URLs.

First guess: Someone didn't pay his bills.
If you look up lansingheritage.org, you get
Domain Status: clientHold
Looking up that one:
This status code tells your domain's registry to not activate your domain in the DNS and as a consequence, it will not resolve. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, non-payment, or when your domain is subject to deletion.

Steve Schell replied to my Email;

" I wrote to Don McRitchie and he just wrote back. It seems that the Library is on a different domain name (Lansingheritage vs. audioheritage) and the registrar forgot to renew it. Don said this should be corrected on Monday."

Best,

Steve

Or just fix it and put it all on one domain ...
That would be the logical solution.

Don had to kick a few butts, but the Library is once again open. If you are still having trouble from your location, try again later today.

Thanks!

Makes me think about loading all this stuff into my cloud in case it happens again!
I really appreciate you all working so hard to make this place work all the time and for such a long time.
It is most certainly a valuable resource I rely on with frequency.

Now that we know what can happen.I think it would be a good idea to have a backup somewhere, maybe even a couple of them.I have quite a bit of it but not all of it.
