I was afraid to take apart my system that consisted of Array horns with 476Mg's, 045Be's and LE14H-3's because I thought I would loose the magic that I had found with this system.

I had listened to many systems and thought that they just did not sound like mine and what I was enjoying.

Well I have had some 1500AL's just sitting here for the past year (yes I know......) and I was so biased toward my system, and it did not help that the last time I listened to S9900's and just did not like the way they sounded that I just kept using what I had.

Fast forward a year and a little nudge from my friend and member George and reading Barry's new found 4365 monitor love, I decided to get the B380 cabs out and put the 1500AL's in them and drop the Array horns on top and see just what would happen.

Well, lets just say that the image and depth went from good to really great. These woofers are just remarkable!! They really just have a remarkable way of creating a fantastic image and the clarity of the lows and low mid is just over the top.

I am using a GT inspired XO with the top wide open on the 476's and the 045 are not hooked up, just filling holes! :D At the last Lansing party in LA Greg said I really would not miss the 045 and who am I to doubt that!

I would like to thank the members here who have helped me along the way to get what I have. It truly is just amazing what articulation of sound that these speakers are capable of!!:applaud:

I am currently listen to Harry Connick Jr.'s Lofty's Roach Souffle and it is so far beyond what I have heard before.................

Until later

Thanks LHF

Shane

Reminds me of a line in the movie Platoon (Seawolf may recall this), where 'Junior' says, "Free your mind and your ass will follow!" :D

Off topic: Did you sell the 580s & sub yet? I had forgotten about yours where someone on another forum has been asking my advice about the 590 & 580. He got 580s and is getting 570s for a second pair.

Anyway, grats on the new config.

LowPhreak,

The 580's and sub left last night as a matter a fact. :) Now I have more room to play!!

Those woofers are really clean and clear. I'm glad to hear that you like them.

I started a thread sometime ago called How Black is Black attempting to describe the differences in a speaker system that finally has pushed the full digit if not double digit distortion into the fractional number range at realistically high listening levels.

I am going to say nothing more about them here and await hearing your discoveries.

All the best,
Barry.

OT - OT, but to answer, NO. I dislike violent movies, only made about 10 minutes thru Platoon, before quitting. Took 20 years before I'd touch a gun after I got to CONUS. That first July 4th at home was hell..

Will try to delete this answer before my editing time is up.

Sorry to hear that. I'm a vet as well but wasn't in combat. Well, it was a good line anyway... :dont-know:

Free Your Mind... and Your Ass Will Follow is the second studio album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_album) by American funk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funk) band Funkadelic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funkadelic), released in July 1970 by Westbound Records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westbound_Records).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Your_Mind..._and_Your_Ass_Will_Follow#cite_no te-Rudland-3)

Oliver Stone's movie Platoon came out much later, in 1986 (http://www.imdb.com/year/1986/?ref_=tt_ov_inf).

Shane

We have had the opportunity to listen to quite a few of JBL's finest sysytems and drivers over the last couple of years, including the Timbers Arrays.

These really are something special.

Congratulations
george

Yep, I had heard about that album much later, then thought the picture probably swiped the line from it.

Hey Shane,

I was rummaging around in my parts odds-n-ends and I came across these genuine JBL hole plugs, in case you need to unload those 045's.

They're rubber so you won't ever need to redo the surrounds.

I will concur to your thread. It truly is night and day and the more I listen the more I hear! :)

I would really like to try my speakers outside this summer but I dread the thought of lugging the Levinson 333 and 331 outside LOL!!

I really like the superb detail I am hearing and the sound of nothing where there is supposed to be nothing! :D

They really do continue to amaze and I have reached a new level of sonic reality that is just a pleasure to listen to.

I would however like to come to your place and hear those monsters you claim are speakers!! :D

I bet they sound just superb especially outside.

HI Shane!

You know you are welcome to anytime.

I wish I had more time with the Super 4350's, I just love them. It is past time to build a proper listening room!

All the best,
Barry.
