It's been a while :)

After a few years of travelling around the world on a pushbike, I've returned and bought a lovely pair of K2's which I am powering with a couple of Devialets.

I realise it's possible to actively biamp the K2's and wondered if anyone had tried it or if anyone had the voltage drives for the speaker?

I'm not sure about it as I think Greg Timber's greatest achievements are often the complex passive crossovers employed in the larger monitors. I'd just like to try this out of curiosity if you like.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on making that trip!! If you set up a web photo album, I'd love to view it.

The voltage drive can be found here:
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?10639-K2-S9800&p=121939&viewfull=1#post121939

At one point I did replicate it using EQ to use with my H9800 clones and 2435HPL, but the resulting response curve was not good, neither with the normal 2435 nor with the aquaplassed version, so I did not use these parameters.
I might found the parameters somewhere if you want them. I think I was using a DCX2496 at the time, but any device with constant Q EQs would do.
This would be a completely active crossover with no passive component in the signal path.

You can also actively biamp (with digital EQ and delays to get accurate complementary acoustical crossovers) and keep most of the passive network, like GT did here: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?35028-S3900-S4700-dbx-DriveRack-260
This is probably the best and safest option.

Many thanks for that POS. I was hoping someone might have actively biamped the 9800 in the way that GT did the 4700 - it's probably not worth the agro of trying to find the EQ points needed myself.

Rusty, one day I'll work out how to do something like that. Wonderful way to travel and appreciate life though :)

found the parameters:

DCX2496 parameters for the compression driver:
64320

Smaart Live Measurement of the output of the DCX2496 with said parameters, in red, with the original scaled voltage drive curve (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?10639-K2-S9800&p=121939&viewfull=1#post121939) as on overlay:
64319

Many thanks for looking those up POS.

I'll have a play with my plug in and see how I get on. :)

I would also find your er... findings interesting too. Im curious to how the Arrays would sound like with the padding down of the top drivers removed and a active crossover implemented for the bass etc... when, how, if i ever get round to it, of course! At the moment they're bi-amped with 4 monoblocks and sound very good.
