Any idea what this is? It's from a VOT. My guess is 808-8A. Thanks!

Hi,

Since the driver's body is black ( & of a specific length ), the pictured driver could be either of these two models ; 802-8D or 808-8A ( with the installed diaphragm type determining the driver model number ) .

In either case, the more modern replacement diaphragm # 34647 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Altec-604-802-804-806-807-808-902-908-909-Replacement-diaphragm-NEW-GPA-/331417491068?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4d2a05967c)( $ 90.40 from GPA (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Altec-604-802-804-806-807-808-902-908-909-Replacement-diaphragm-NEW-GPA-/331417491068?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4d2a05967c) ) is (IMO ) better sounding than either of the original ( installed possibilities ) .

Agree with Earl on this..Also looks like the binding post needs to be repaired on the HF driver or at the very least is missing it's bakelite washer.
