hi everybody .
i'm not trying to compare , my question is wether to buy a pair of 4425s or not right now i have several pairs JBLs L100s ,L112s, L110s, L96s, L36s, L56s ,L19s ,L15s, 4310s ,and last 4612OKs, i have to say i use the L100s,L112s & 4310s the most for my home system (the L100s are my favorates,my first pair in 78) the L110s (2pairs) are in my shop so are the L36s lower shop, all speakers are powered by standerd low distortion receivers or intergrated amps from 100 to 125 wpc . will the 4425s make a large change to my home system ,i have never heard a pair ,but i do know that the 4612s have very bright highs even though they dont have the deep bass ,which i can understand why, i wish i had a 10th of the knowledge that some of our generous members have but i dont so ,its nice to be a member of such a site , so if any or all could give me some of there opinions i would greatly appretiate the feedback.
P.S i'm going to be selling the L96s, near mint cond. no manual ,if there is any interest ,pm me ,make me an offer i cant refuse.
thanks to all ,michael

Their uniformly wide dispersion of mids and highs from the biradial horns will interact with your listening environment in a different way. You're somewhat familiar with this characteristic from the tweeters in your 4612's. 4425's don't have that kind of "sizzle," though. Those 2404's are UHF drivers; 4425's don't go that high, but they seem to have stronger high end than 4430's.

They have strong, clear bass, but it's a 12" that's providing it, and the major low midrange as well, crossing at 1200 Hz. I supplement them with subs because I like the bass "bigger." They're not 4430's on the low end, for sure, but for their size, they don't disappoint. Best thing is to try them. It's easy to like them better than just about anything else. They're two-ways, a major plus in my book. O.K., quasi three-ways, then. The biradial horns work as advertised: no more "sweet spot."

I have listened to 4425's since 1988. In 1999 I bought some 4435's fresh out of unopened boxes and to my suprise my immediate impression was disappointment. The 4435's didn't really sound any better. However, giving the 4435's a little more "juice" and the difference becomes VERY evident. The 4425 will rock you all day long but if your into high volume, the 4435 will really make your day sweet!

My L-100's are too beat up to do an AB comparison and be sure I have heard the "truth". As Zilch said the low frequency is definitely better. I have always prefered the sound of compression drivers to cones on the high end. Sounds more realistic
with a very strong presence. Kind of like a supercharged 427 compared to my old inline 4 Datsun.

I have come to regard the 4425 as a top notch speaker capable of meeting virtually any audio need & for the money VERY hard to beat.
