Yep... that's an old picture. They are currently powered by ARC and the TT is an SME 30.

The system is pretty awesome.

Not in any detail. These speakers were developed for a friend almost 10 years ago and have played many hours every day since.

The room has numerous Shun Mook tweaks. No comment on their efficacy. ;)

I'll do it for you: "A fool and his money...are lucky to get together in the first place." Apparently he's gone full banana, since he has a pic on Shun Mook's site with the ARC Ref's, and what are those, Focal's?

Many speakers have been in that room over the years... the Project Widgets have been among the longest in tenure... not being replaced since they were installed. We've tweaked the networks and he's swapped amps and pres, but the speakers have proven to have staying power.

I'm sure I'd like the DIY's (they certainly look nice), and have always liked ARC (had Classic 120 monos and three pre-amps myself), but that expensive firewood silliness would have to go.

I guess you clamp your records with something besides dried ebony briar? How do you get the right sympathetic vibrations? :banghead:

Do you remember the crossover frequencies of this system?

Mr. Widget
04-14-2018, 12:51 PM
It’s changed a number of times, but between the Sub1500 and TL-1102 is around 65-75Hz. Between the TL-1102 and the TD4003 the LP is 650Hz and the HP is 850 Hz. All these crossovers are active at 24 dB octave. The crossover from from the TD-4003 to the ET-703 was originally active too but is now passive at 12KHz at 18 dB octave.
