Those 2269 drivers are pretty impressive. I've seen one in person and it is really a very impressive driver.

"Who needed a big-ass JBL sub?"

Most of us on this forum need (at least) one. Whether we could afford it or have the space for it is another thing. ;)

3.5" excursion! That'll blow your skirt up.

I'd even wear a skirt (umm...kilt) just to test it!...if I could keep the test unit.:homer:

I saw these the other day and got excited, but then I wonder what the price point will be given the ASB7128 is $5.2k and that also contains a pair of 2269's.
The same box for the 4642a with 2241's is $2k. Interestingly the 5749, same box again but with 2242's is $2.2k - very small premium for the better driver.

So now I wonder what the 5628 is going to run to. If they put it around $3.5k it would be the cheapest() way to get the 2269's since they won't let you buy them individually.

Though with JBL the pricing does seem almost random at times. ;)

I'm gonna have to wait until my kids are a bit older. It will hurt them.

Whoo hooo, 4kW power, 16kW peak :bouncy:

Though I think that you'd be happier with this one, for home use:

Hi, Martin, and All,

WOW!! That old "obsolete" sub, with two 2245H drivers, looks very interesting, indeed!! I'm guessing around 18 ft3 for the internal cabinet volume! That would be a really big, but really fantastic subwoofer for home use, I'm thinking!! Hide it somewhere, and cross it love enough, and VOILA, there you have it!! Gives me the shivers, just thinking about the possibilities!! :bouncy: Thanks for sharing, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

Am I the only (slightly silly, I admit to that) person on this forum to have actually bought one of these monsters? Next to our JBL 5774 it does not even look that imposing.
2242s and 2245s for sale now, there is no contest, this 2269-equipped bastard one is infinitely better

Nice to hear that someone actually have bought these!

Very curious how they compare to 2242/2258 since I'm planning replacing my 2242/2258 in 4645 With 2269h.

I like 2242/2258 very much but they lack a little below 30hz even when the 4645 cabinets is retuned to aprox 20hz so that's mainly what I'm looking for With the 2269... more output below 30hz :)

I found a 5749 on ebay local to me. I paid $450 for it. It's a monster! I also use a 2245 and AE TD18H+ (each in ported 8 cu ft boxes)!

2256G vs 2269G/H

I like to know which woofer works better under 30Hz?

2256G were used in Vertec 4881 and go down to 22Hz -3 db
2269G/H are used in later version 4881A and go down to 32Hz -3 db

Great deal! I'd say that qualifies as a "big-ass sub".

May be can help
As 2256 is 3-inch VC, and 15-inch cone type, I would expect that under the same acoustic level that it would produce more distortions then 2269.

I did talk to one guy from JBLpro and he tell me to use 2269, better woofer

Is the cone heavier in the Revel rhythm2 sub than a standard 2269h ? Or is it something complete different ?

Is the cone heavier in the Revel rhythm2 sub than a standard 2269h ? Or is it something complete different ?They spent several years developing it... I don't know all of the differences, but the Revel driver is unique with an aluminum cone and other changes.

Many Things seems the same but the cone is totally different:
