I have a JBL 2206H that appears to be in great condition but it is showing between 15 and 27 ohms at the terminals and wondering what that could be? When I put a battery across it, I easily hear the static that comes from AA battery. Any ideas?

Measuring at terminals? at solder tabs where tinsel leads are attached? Reading when shorting the test leads?

if it jumps around between 15 and 27 it's blown. Make sure you are making good contact.

Thanks guys for the reply. It really doesn't matter where I measure it, the readings are all over the board. Using alligator clips to make sure I have a good connection, I've measured from the terminals and the solder tabs, each time I get somewhere between 6 and 27 ohms. I thought if a driver failed, you'd get no continuity as in an open circuit, but this clearly isn't the case I guess. The driver makes sound, just at much lower levels than a healthy 2206. I guess its time to call Orange County Speaker....

Or the coil has gotten so hot to burn but not break cause a break? Wouldn't a misaligned coil that touches the magnet structure cause the same, strange reading?
