If neither one of these names is familiar to you, never mind. Independent contemporary music is not for everyone, I know. Iggy may be an old man now, but he keeps up with things. I would like to think that I do to, but I don't know how well.

Thanks for sharing! I saw Iggy live years ago in a long-since-gone venue in DC [The Ontario Theater] and still try and keep up with him. Not always my cuppa, but he stays live and vital and that's very cool (esp. when you consider he's kickin' at 67!)

Thanks for sharing. I will ckeck this out.

When the Ramones are dying one after another, the "iguana" is alive and still kicking. I wouldn't label him as "independent contemporary music" though. He's a very mainstream musician for million of music lovers around the world. Equal to David Bowie or Lou Reed. Basically one of the main references in 70s and 80s rock'n'roll. This guy and a handfull of others created a whole new segment in the mid 1970s. He's a pionner that redefined music.

As for John Peel. I have several white label vinyls that were basically his radio shows. BTW When "good" music is more and more available, how come mainstream stuff gets worst and worst. Are people getting dumber by the decade? ;-)
