Last year I inherited a pair of L65 Jubals. The woofers have a reflective purple tint to them. The back of the cones have a fiberglass textured spray with "126 A" written in white marker, implying that it isn't the typical replacement 128H re-cone kit that fits the Jubal L65, L65A, and L65B woofers. Are these the original cones that came with the speaker in 1975? Does the reflective purple tint on the front mean these have been re-coned? Are these the original cones, but they sprayed some purple coating on the front to "preserve" it or something?! I can’t figure it out!

Furthermore, I feel it is important to mention that my grandma purchased these speakers brand new in 1975 or 76. The foam surrounds deteriorated once in the early 90's, and again in 2007. Both times she sent them back to JBL in Northridge to have them serviced, not a local shop. Wondering also if the purple tint is something specific to JBL servicing procedures vs a generic service. It seems like I remember the woofers being light grey when I was a kid. Either way, they do sound incredible.

Love to see some pics!

Your grandma must have been (is?) a cool lady.
