Always try to think about, and listen to the music of Mark Sandman and Morphine on September 9th. One of the truly special musicians, and bands of my lifetime. If you aren't familiar with them, I encourage you to investigate. 2 string slide bass, drums, baritone sax. Low Rock.

Mark wrote lyrics to a song, "....on 9/9/99, hope I'm sitting on the back porch drinking red wine...." but tragically, he died on stage in July of that year.

Tonight's dinner on the porch will include, French Fries with Pepper, red wine, and a large helping of Morphine on the stereo. Every day we're here to listen to music is a gift.

I have the entry to Buena set up as a ringtone... Inimitable. I never get tired of it.

Not as good as Morphine, but his former band "Treat her Right" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treat_Her_Right) is also worth mentioning..

It's that first track "I think she Likes Me" that first got me hooked on Sandman and Morphine and that was well after he died. I heard it on The World Cafe or some such program in the car and repeated the name of the band all the way home so I wouldn't forget it. He has a very unique sound for rock & roll.
