Here is the den mainly used for home theater, but will run 2-channel audio via the 1960 C38's upfront on the extended legs.

So I take it you have heard a Trinaural setup? Unreal huh? Makes even mediocre speakers come to life.

Here's a picture with the catch all room uncluttered.

Give the man a cigar. Those are BassMaxx B1 cabinets with 18" McCauley 6174 drivers. :D The bass is effortless and the folded horn bring them over 100dB efficient.

Hello Paragon

You have a bunch of stuff on your shelves too. Looks like you Potato Mashers 2308's and spare 2405's too?? What are the other drivers?? You have the Hartsfield horns and lenses stashed too!!! Nice collection of gear there!!

What you can see are the 128h-1's 2118's and a 2035 what you can't see are the 2404's 2418's with 2342 horns 2405's and a lone 604C. The LE-14's are my stereo subs the mains are really active 4 ways if you count the Le14 bottoms.

Hey Luther nice set-up!!!! I like all your spaces!!

Rob:)

Trinaural.

I'll bite. I have Binaural knowledge which requires close proximity to the transducers, i.e. headphones, so that each ear hears a distinct source to preserve location clues. I have heard this demonstrated and it does produce great imaging but will not work with speakers because the sound from each distinct source, critical for the effect, ends up “bleeding” over to the other ear. This is some variation?

This is some variation?

I believe it is Jim Biongiorno's (sp?) latest idea as featured in a recent issue of Stereophile. It sounds cool, unfortunately there is no mention of a balanced bersion being available.:(

Wardsweb

It is the brain child of James Bongiorno who's other designs credits include (but not limited to) Dynaco, SAE, SUMO, GAS, AMPZILLA...It won techtv Best of CES last year.

Great !!

Hi Rob,

What you see on the left side on the subwoofer is a D130,
A pair of LE 85 (top), behind a pair of 2390 Horn-Lens (also top).
The sub is powerd by an 18" Craaft speaker with a 300 Watts bipolar power amp.
Above left a restored 075 without dia, a pair 3106 nets and a pair
restored 2410`s with titan aftermarket dia`s.
Then on the top a pair 2301 mashers, two H91 horns and a pair of
Isophon lenses (all in top condition).
As you can see i have to restore my old (not original) 4530.
Today i´ve had a look at the "Musikprodutiv", worlds largest musicstore (?) who build my 4530 24 years ago.. There are no basshorns in their PA room.

Figge,

A few problems trying them all at once. Don't have a room with 20+ ft of wall space so they can be lined up. And not enough power. But I am working on that. I have the following Carver stuff:
C - 1 Sonic Holographic Preamplifier
C-4000 Autocorrelation Preamplifier
M 0.5T Magnetic Field Power Amplifier
M-500t Magnetic Field Power Amplifier
PM 1.5 Magnetic Field Power Amplifier

I forgot something.

I feel good (and old) that I bought the L36, Dorian and L222 in their day.

The L65, L100, L120 and L300 are recent purchases. And the Lansing Heritage Forum is to blame!!!!

Michael

Ah Donald, your also a Carver man?

Do you think you could tell me what this carver amp/tuner I have is, model and price wise?

I am just getting into Carver. I have no history with the brand.
I would asume the back of the unit has the model number.

Yours looks like this eBay offering:

It is "The Receiver", seriously that's the model designation.

Hi,

The amp is a 1983 Yamaha PC2002M (250wpc). See my thread in the Marketplace section about its bigger brother the PC5002M. There's one for sale on ebay right now. I see the 2002 on ebay several times a year and they never sell for more than $250. These are a STEAL - they were $2000 in 1983 and to say they are well made is an understatement.

Thanks for the compliments on the setup - I've been working on this room for about 5 years. I just got the french doors up last year so I can listen at decent levels once the kids are in bed. I haven't changed the electronics much since I got the Luxman C300 preamp last year. That really completed it I think. Of course there's always room for upgrades, but I'm at the point of very diminishing returns per $ spent. Definitely a factor in a family situation.....

Unfortunately, this is not the hearing room, but rather the storage space for my JBLs. In my garage I've got my 4560s that you can see in the picture, and burried deep in the mess (out of view) are a pair of 5050s. I can't find any 5050 info at AudioHeritage, but I guess we can call them JBLs since they have a Jim Lansing by Ampex tag on the back. Perhaps I should call 'em Ampex speakers then, at any rate, they are pretty much the same as the C-55, and/or the 4520. There's some Altec and Peavey horns thrown in there too.

You don't see many of those over here in the US. They made some really great cassette decks that's for sure. My GX-F51 is still going strong 21 years later while my friend's Nakamichi has been in the shop countless times. Granted it sounds better when it's working but you just can't beat the build quality of Akai.

jblnut

paragon

Yes,
Akai is good quality (big and heavy amps, cassette...) you could pay. Sansui was to expensive for me.
There is no more HiFi from Akai today, only prof music parts (sampler..). Sad.
