I have pair of Altec 604E speakers. It seems that one has original 16 ohm HF diaphragm and other one has aftermarket 8 ohm one. I measured both out of driver. Original one seems to have DCR of 8,2ohm and inductance of 0,15mH, aftermarket one does have DCR 6,6 ohm and inductance of 0,082 mH... so match is not too good. Also coil winding heights are different.

I suppose there are not too many manufacturers for diaphragms. Are all aftermarket ones from same source and are they good enough? DCR figures at least seems to specified to be quite much higher than original ones are. Lead out wires seems to be routed different way than at least my original was. Or are GPA diaphragm only way to go?

Best Regards

....can't say really. I have used GPA diaphragms with great success. ..they have all the tooling from the now defunct Altec factory...
