Can I install 2420 driver on a 4430 system and having the same result as 2425 ( I think this is the one installed ) 2420 seems to go up to 20 khz ? .

I plan to build a 4430 clone with 2235 +2420 ???

The original 4430s came with 2421As. The 2421 is a 2420 with a "diamond" surrounded aluminum diaphragm. This diaphragm did two things. It smoothed and extended the response and it also made the diaphragms more susceptible to fatigue failure.

To maintain the extended response JBL went to the 2425 diaphragm which is essentially identical to the 2421 but made out of titanium. This reduced failures but at the cost of slightly more distortion.

There is no reason you can't use your 2420s for this project but for increased HF response you should use either the 2421 or 2425 diaphragms.

In addition if you will be using the 4430 crossover you will need to use the 2421A or 2425H diaphragms as the crossover is designed for these lower impedance diaphragms. The 2420 is a higher impedance. It is 10-12 ohms regardless of the printed value (16 ohm or 8 ohm) on the rear of the driver.
