Is there a best way to remove a dust cap?

I've only used a razor blade on a hobby knife. But if it was a really nice/rare driver, I'd be too afraid. I know that I was not gifted with super steady hands.

Would most use a size bigger dust cap to cover a quite possible glue mishap?

I'd use a dremel. I haven't done it quite yet but I'm about to. Smooth action.

I suppose if you laid a piece of wood or something across the woofer's frame you could be pretty steady.

I think the cone can steady your hand enough without you bearing down on it. Having to droop down from above seems a bit precarious. It becomes more or less free-hand that way. Obviously trial on a junk speaker is best.

The E140's cap has direct contact to the voice coil former, with paper caps it's different.
