Hi folks, I'm looking at the 2242 to integrate into my system to provide more midbass slam. My current subs are set at 80hz and handle all the low frequency I will ever need but I am sorely lacking in the midbass department. I need a lot of output to match my other subs and think the 2242 is up to the task.

I m considering making cabinets based off the 4645 but was wondering if anyone ever made a horn loaded cabinet for this driver? The thought is being horn loaded they would slam more. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Not the same, but if a very efficient bass horn interests you, start here : http://forum.speakerplans.com/super-bass-horn-v02-by-startec-quad-acousticsf_topic20503.html

I would prefer something more along these lines: Just a simple horn type with maybe a port on the bottom? After further review the ASH might not be what I'm looking for. I need something similar to the 4645 but only in a horn type if possible. What I am trying to accomplish is in your face output in the mid bass area. Snare drum region. From 60hz and below I am set. Thank you!

Find a used set of Altec A7 copies. You usually find them for $100 for cabinets only. Load a set of 15" 2225 or 2226. Be done.

perfect but have you ever seen them sized for an 18" like the 2242? That would give even more spl and crack right?
