Hi There, long time lurker from the UK here,

I'd be interested to know peoples opinions on a specific problem i'm beginning to have....

Im building a soundsystem!

so far its 2 stacks, each stack is 2 X Yuchi e-170 stacked http://www.geocities.jp/arai401204/Enclosure/E170/E170.html
with TAD 1601b drivers

each stack has a TAD 4001 horn on top.

Bryston 10B X over at 700hz (for now....)

i'd be interested to know what people think about driving the 1601b drivers.
From the technical information (its a bit misleading since the overviews says 500W, but technical spec says 300W)
http://tad-labs.com/en/professional/unitspeaker/unit1.html

so I think i need to get 4 channels running 8ohm at ~800W, class a/b...
does anyone have any experience with these drivers?
its going to be used in a small, club space, so needs to deliver high spl at times!

thanks for reading!!

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion at the manufacturers/distributors end about the specified rating of this driver, but both these specs seem to show 200W (rated input power) 500W (maximum input power).

http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/45/200/1083/TL-1601b/specs.html

http://www.hornstudio.de/1601b.pdf

However, on the downside this site says in the spec that it's 150W (rated input power) 300W (maximum input power).

2 steps forward, one step back...

Also see the JBL 'sound system design reference manual'

PDF download is split into 2 parts for some reason:
http://www.jblpro.com/pub/manuals/pssdm_1.pdf (http://www.jblpro.com/pub/manuals/pssdm_2.pdf)
http://www.jblpro.com/pub/manuals/pssdm_2.pdf

refer to part 2, section 7-4 .... this advises about amp output power vs speaker power rating.
