Hello

One of the LPAD's went out on the Jubal's. I am going to go ahead and replace all 4 of them whileI am at it. I see that the original part number is 10285 8 Ohm for both the LF and MF. Researching I see that individuals are using Parts Express Part # 260-248 15W 8 Ohm (http://www.parts-express.com/speaker-l-pad-attenuator-15w-mono-3-8-shaft-8-ohm--260-248). Would it be better to use Parts Express Part # 260-262 which is 100W (http://www.parts-express.com/speaker-l-pad-attenuator-100w-mono-3-8-shaft-8-ohm--260-262). 15W just seems so little and the price difference is insignificant. I did some searching and I could not find the shaft length. Is it 1" or 3/8" that I should use? The above links are for the 3/8" length.

Thanks All

After doing a little more research I will attempt to answer my own question. Perhaps this will help individuals in the future and if the info is not correct maybe someone will correct me.

I have a pair of L36's that I wanted to use in an apartment that I stay in for work. Well I took the cover off and they needed new surrounds. Contacted Mr. Cobb and replaced the surrounds. Went to hook them up and they have the push button binding post which were broke. At this point I decided to recap the L36 while I was at it. Anyway pulled the network out which is connected to the same board as the l-pad. Its the same l-pad (lpad) as the L65 uses 10285. Looks like a 1 inch shaft. When I looked at the schematic (http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/HOM/Technical%20Sheet/L36%20Decade%20ts.pdf)for the L36 it shows the 10285 as being 5W which none of the other schematics showed (L100 L65). So the 15W should be more than enough.

Hope this helps others in the future.

Have Fun and Merry Christmas :D

Hi
I know the JBL part #10285 L-Pad has an 8 ohm resistance and a 15 watt power rating. So, I think there is a typo in the L36 Schematic, it’s not 5 watts. And as far as shaft length go, I would first take a look at the network’s housing and actually measure it. I suspect that you could actually order the longer shaft model (Parts Express # 260-250) and just add some space washers as needed.

Thanks for the reply and info. What you suggested is what I am going to do. The L65's are still working. When the lpad gets beyond the 0 position it cuts out. I have not adjusted them in a long time so no telling how long they have been like that. Just did not want to be without speakers. Wanted to get the parts and then fix them.

Again Thanks
Merry Christmas :D Oh Yeah Happy New Year:tree:
