Hi!

I have done some meassurements on my front speakers with XTZ pro.

DSP: Delay 0,48ms on 2405 and 0,44ms on 2206. Bouth 2206 meassured on same time
No EQ
The setup from top is:
200cm from speakers
Mick 82cm from floor
2447 100cm from floor LR24 800hz
2405 78cm from floor LR24 7000hz
2206 55cm from floor no filter
2206 20cm from floor no filter

The last link is all speakers with 1000hz lr24 and 8000hz lr24
The dropof in the high i think is more the mic than the speakers.

I think the system sound a little hard and harsh in the mid.

Any suggestions?

Best regards!

Hi Karl,

Nice looking speakers!

It is always difficult to comment on other's measurement as there are simply too many variables involved (gating, smoothing, distance to speakers and boundaries, angles, mic calibration, etc.), but it looks like you would get much benefit from putting some effort on the 2447 EQ and filtering (flat in its passband and following LR slopes in the stopbands)
Maybe you should first try to achieve a decent 2-way, letting the 2405 unplugged and trying to simply expand the 2447 up high (not too hard, but up to 15kHz maybe, and a few dB down). When you get that right then you can integrate the 2405.

Can you do target curves in your measurement software?

Hi again Thomas!

I don`t think my program can do that. Yesterday i talked on the phone with "sebachman" and he gave me many advices and tips. For example about the measurements and that I needed better software for measurement. Gating etc... On JBL pro services I found DSP settings for 2-way with my setup. I think i will begin with that settings. I will start without the 2405. Actually I have played them 2-way for a while. But now they are in storage thoe to house restoaration. I hope to be finish with that in a week or two. If I don`t experience that the harshness goes away with that I will uninstall the dias in my 2447 and lock for possible defects on them. Dust in the gap or damaged dias. (i`we checked the quickly earlier but this time I will do a total check) If that dont work mabye I will need new ears:bouncy:

Karl!

Hi Kalle! You know that you can choose "RAW" in XTZ Pro to see an un-smoothed curve? I second Pos's thoughts about the 2447. Straighten it out and take it down. It takes some work to tame a horndriver for home use but once you get it right... Don't be afraid to get an uneven curve if you find it sounds good. Do you have some EQ to play with? Do you have a resonance in your room around 8kHz? A 6s decay is very long. Is it plain Ti-domes in the drivers? Some of us find coated dias (or Be but then we are talking bigger bucks) to be less harsh.

Some of the harshness may come from the 2405 being crossed at 7KHz. My experience is that it sounds better crossed at 8KHz. :)

Thanks all for your replyes:) Soon my room for music will be ready and then I can start with the settings:)

But today I have had a lot of fun in my garage listening to 2 old PA systems. One of them my brother bought today. Dhe most interesting here i guess is the 2 4560s with e130 in them. There was also 1(!) box with a jbl2402 and a selestion 100 (or something) the other one had the seller put in the dumpster because the horn was broken:(
It was also 4 Beyma 18g480 in some small horns that reminded a little of 4530 but more compact. Anyone know anything about this horns?
It was fun listening to and I thougth that the 4560s sounded quite nice:)

We did also listen to my rig that is 2 rcf l18 851kn in W-bins, dual jbl 2204 and 1" CD Not the best sounding but fun to listen with a lot of watts:)
