View Full Version : Trouble with my BX63, I think.

I’ve got a weird phenomenon going on with my BX63. I noticed the other day that when I turned down my preamp, with the CD player still playing, I could still hear the music playing very faint and distorted sounding. I walked around the room and found it was coming from my B380. I tried several things to see if I could determine what was causing it. I found that just touching the RCA lead that goes to the amp I use to power the B380, to the case of the BX63 was enough to make this happen. I didn’t have to actually plug in the cable. It’s as if the signal is traveling through the ground. Funny thing is, this signal doesn’t go to the mains amp, just the Sub’s amp. Any ideas?

When I got home today, I swapped out the amp (Carvin DCM600) that I was using for the Sub, for one of my Haflers. No more bleed through. Any ideas what is causing that with the Carvin amp?

Sounds like an open ground or ground loop problem. Does the amp in question have a 3 prong plug ? If so, try one of those receptacles with the green wire for the ground that allows you to plug into a two prong outlet

You could try dropping the shield on the single-enders, but that can be awkward, too. Alternatively, insert an isolation transfomer between the two - search this option on the forum using "ground loops".
