Yes it is. Itīs very hard to get a pair of 2235 in germany. but this 2226 sounds gigantic good.
If I've found a pair of 2235 speakers I change immediately, of course:)

What happened to the 2235 woofers? Where have they gone? The 2226 have a very different response from the original 2235 and they are two very different woofers. Not to mention that the ports are also specific to the 2235. At this point this is not about being purist. It is a major mismatch of components. Go get some 2235s ;-)

If I'm reading right, it seems like these are a pair of homebuilt 4430s -
and nice work too, from the look of them!

Don't think he ever had a pair of 2235s - the 2226s are all he could find over there.

Lets just hope the 2226s are placeholders until he can scare up the proper drivers ...

As long as you tune the cabinet properly for each type of woofer, it should be fine. 2226's like to be tuned to 40Hz, while the 2235 likes closer to 30Hz or a little below, depending on cabinet volume.

My HT system is similar, with a pair of 2226J's in a 2.5 way setup. All four of them do not keep up with the single 2235H sub down below 40Hz.

You can look for 2225's as well as 2235's. 2225's will accept the 2235 cone kit.

It does not always save any money getting 2225's reconed into 2235's, but you might save some time waiting to find 2235's.

Hmmm... "Original cones and dust covers"... yet they have been refoamed. How do they do that? ;-)

Really easy, I have done that several times. Just refoam and leave the dust caps alone.

How do you keep the cone and the coil centered if you can't shim the coil (requiring to remove the dust cover)? Is the spider enough to keep the coil centered and the cone perfectly flat?

You have to make sure the coil is pependicular to the top plate. The spider goes a long way in keeping it centered and to get it centered you use a low level bass tone say 30hz or so. Keep it low level and when the glue starts to set go up in level to make sure it's centered properly and won't rub getting up near x-max. I have doing refoams for years this way and it works fine.

There are a pair of 2235H for sale in sweden as well but they are very expensive.

http://www.blocket.se/uppsala/JBL_2235H_15__Bashogtalare_49706799.htm?ca=11&w=3

still the shipment would be a little less

Forgot to mention. I currently listen to a pair of 4425 at my office. The latest owner had the 2214 changed to 2212 for some reason but either way our speakers have some kind of similarities, so I have a little clue of what you are experience soundwise :)

Thank you all for the valuable information.
Yes, the 2226 is really just a placeholder and I'm trying hard to get the 2235.
Stay tuned - I'll report :)

btw... has anyone of you two mounting brackets 2504 to sell for two slot tweeters 2405?
Need them for another project.

Congratulations on completing your project! I bumped into your thread because I am a new owner of a 4430 and browsing around to get information about tweaks; particularly about the 5235 crossover for the 4430. I can't seem to find where I can get the card (52-5130) exclusively for 4430/4435 :banghead:. I read somewhere that a member named Guido from Germany can help, but being so new, I don't know his user name so I can PM him. Can someone point me to his direction? Thanks.
