What do you guys think of a 2382A Horn for home use?

Any comments appreciated!

Iīve never used phenolics for home or SR, I guess their advantage is getting away without using a woofer, for voice only.

Letīs see what the guys say.

Hello Guido

Never heard one so for sure?? I would watch the vertical axis as this is a horn where you need to be on axis at least in that respect. Take a look at what happens from about 10K out on the graphs. Off axis Vertical things get a bit strange up there. Other than that it looks like it might work. The horizontal is wide so you will get lots of reflections off the side walls too. I use 2344 and it works in my room may not in all. Can you actually hear one before you make the plunge??

Rob:)

Sorry Guido, I went ahead and thought it was a 2482 driver, (phenolic), I have used the 2382A horn, with very good results at home, with 2441's and 2445īs; It is in one of the monster setups in these forums, I think Greg Timbersī.

I can get my hands on one not clean but cheap with ebay. So I can test before I buy the clean new stuff!

Ha, this gives hope.

I'm planning to use them with a 2446 with aquaplased SL dia. The 2450 is hell expensive and I really cant see the big difference in data and response sheets between 2446 and 2450. So I hope they are sonically identical.

I've been using the 2380A in my home prototype system. I originally tried them in an MTM between the 1500ALs with a BMS4590 and they sounded great. My current prototype system uses a Sub1500, 2234H, and the 2380 at ear height. I've been experiementing with vertical orientation of the horns to reduce side wall reflections, but Greg Timbers came up with the idea first with the array series.
It was Drew Daniels that recommended using the 2382A horns for his high efficiency system. If you want to try a cheaper clone of the 2380 try out this one http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=270-204 for $50
